Little (Big) Sister's Dress

With all the excess of sock yarn in my possession, I found yet another item to make that wouldn't annoy me as much as making socks -- a toddler dress.

Now, it was *kind* of boring since it was a lot of knit stitches and not much else.  But the end result is a very clean looking piece.

I had two hanks of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine yarn, and I found this lovely number called "Little Sister's Dress".  There is a "Big Sister" version, but I liked the touch of the buttons for this one.

No, the yarn is not machine washable.  Yes, my daughter only wore this dress twice.  Once for Thanksgiving to show it off (I took it off when we sat down to eat), and again for picture day at school.  It came home with strawberry jam smudged on it.  Luckily, with a little soaking and light treatment, I was able to remove the stain.  I do need to rework the crochet button loops, as those came undone when I washed it.  I *think*/hope she can still fit into it -- I'd love to have her wear it one last time for me!

Looking at this picture makes me realize how important a stretchy bind off can be.  It probably would have been best to use for this dress so it could have flared out a bit more.  Also, a crochet finish around the armpits could have made this dress look a little tidier.  Live and learn.
