Anyways, to make myself feel better about moving (and exploiting the JoAnns coupons from my iPhone App and mailers), I splurged and bought some yarn, more needles, and some books while still in Virginia. One of these books has been on my wishlist for a while, so I was glad to cross it off -- Pet Projects: The Animal Knits Bible. There is a lot of neat stuff in the book, such as a tent for a turtle, a carrot curtain for a rabbit, dog sweaters, small dog/cat papoose, and a "Mouse Mat". The mat is SO terribly cute, it caught my attention a long time ago on ravelry, hence me putting this book on my wish list.
I used 2.7 skeins of Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn in beige, and some left over worsted weight yarn form my shoe rug. The pattern calls for super bulky yarn throughout, so I had to improvise when I used my worsted yarn. I love how it turned out though, I think my modification was definitely the way to go on this project.. especially since I only used 13 yards of the brown yarn!
And Pepper loves it... she snuggled with it up north when the cottage got chilly! (Ok, maybe I posed the mat with her..)
But I only posed it with her because Snoopy was soo cute cuddled up with the quilt my mom made for the cats!
