Learning to weave

I always saw weaving looms when I went to one of my favorite local yarn stores, but never had I sat down to figure out exactly how to use one.  When I was 8 months pregnant with my second child, I was gifted a table loom by my aunt. I spent countless nights staying up watching YouTube videos of various techniques and tutorials, and then I dove right in.

32" 4H table loom, tapestry loom, and warping board that I was very fortunate to receive from my fiber arts loving aunt!

First up, I made some scarves.  They were mostly just to play and learn -- even my daughter got in on the action!  She begged to throw the shuttle and wind the yarn, and I was more than happy to involve her.

"Unicorn Farts" dye job
... the dye job didn't work out so well and many of the colors washed out.  This wasn't one of the best planned projects that I've done.

I decided I was going to try for a REAL project.  Something that I could use every day. So I played with color and planned out some place mats.

Unfortunately, the yarn that I used was definitely NOT intended for weaving.  I had many tension issues and broken warp threads after getting to place mat #2/6, that I had to just cut the project off the loom and move on.
