Antics of a Pregnant Diva

When I found out that I was pregnant, I wanted to blog a whole series about it. However, as I wanted to wait to tell people just "make sure", my writings just sat in a OneNote document. Then, once I did tell people, I realized how tired I was ALL the damn time, and really had no energy to blog. Now that I'm about enter month five, I feel a little be more energy, and a little bit of guilt for not updating for so long. So below, is the only entry I managed to write when I had the will to.

Pickles and ice cream, my ass. The thought of any food is maddening, and sends me into a tizzy running towards the bathroom. The nausea wasn't my first clue, or my second, possibly my third, but it certainly is a daily reminder of my soon to be bump.

I don't usually put a lot of thought into the possibility of pregnancy, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that the past week went like this --

Saturday:
Go to tattoo shop, schedule tattoo appointment.
Go to lunch, eat sushi. Lots. And Lots. Of Raw. Sushi.
Go to cigar lounge, have cigar. Have owner of cigar lounge, give me free cigar. Woohoo! Free stuff!

Sunday:
Out for Brendan's grandma's birthday. Enjoyed copious amounts of bread, and some delicious Riesling. Mmmmm, Dr. Loosen.

Monday:
Mention at work that minor irritations have been causing me to go over the edge when it comes to reacting.
Have co-worker question if I was pregnant.
Think long and hard if that's a possibility.
Realize it is a possibility.
Take pregnancy test at home.
Test reads "Pregnant"
…….
…..
…
Oh. Fuck.
…
…..
……..
Wait for Brendan to get home from long day at work.
Show him test with tears in my eyes.

Tuesday:
Call a doctor's office to confirm at home test

Wednesday:
Doctor confirms it.

After I got back home from my doctor's appointment, I devised a plan on how to break the news to immediate family. Why not make cupcakes? I can do cupcakes! I went to Michael's to find various decorations to adorn my cupcakes, and some fancy Wilton dyes for frosting. The cake part wasn't anything exceptional, they were something easy and out of a box, but the frosting was all my own. I went with my "Cookie Dough" frosting , split it, and dyed one pink, and the other blue. Scooped the different colors into my piping bag, and instant pretty cupcakes. I may have stolen the idea from my mom, when she made cupcakes for my sister's 13th birthday.

 

So now, I have a lot of knitting to do (though, I'm having difficulties deciding on patterns when I don't know the gender of the kid!). 

Hopefully we'll have an idea after we get a new picture in a couple of weeks!  Not that many of you will get to know *quite* yet :)
